Jivan Ramesh Expands His Artistic Horizons with New Sound Installation “Ys” at Stony Brook Staller Center Music Building
Stony Brook, NY – March 29, 2024 – Acclaimed artist JivanXander Ramesh is thrilled to announce his latest creative venture into the realm of sound art with the unveiling of his innovative sound installation, “Ys.” This captivating installation will be showcased at the prestigious Stony Brook Staller Center Music Building, opening to the public on May 1, 2024.
“Ys” marks Ramesh’s first foray into the dynamic world of sound installation, reflecting his ongoing exploration of multi-sensory experiences. Known for his previous work in music and auditory art, Ramesh’s new project merges technology and art to create an immersive auditory environment. The installation promises to transform the Stony Brook Staller Center Music Building into a canvas of sound, inviting visitors to engage with and experience art in an entirely new way.
The installation will feature a series of spatial audio elements designed to evoke a range of emotions and provoke thoughtful reflection. Ramesh’s use of cutting-edge sound technology and intricate design aims to blur the lines between the physical and the auditory, providing an experience that is both visually and sonically stimulating.
The Stony Brook Staller Center Music Building, renowned for its state-of-the-art facilities and dedication to fostering artistic innovation, provides the perfect backdrop for “Ys.” The exhibition will take over the main 3 storey stairwell recreating the sensation and sounds of descending into the legendary sunken city. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the installation in an environment specially curated to enhance the sensory impact of the work.
“I am excited to expand my artistic practice into the realm of sound and create an immersive experience that engages audiences in a new and profound way,” says Jivan Ramesh. “Ys is not just about listening—it’s about feeling the sound, experiencing its movement, and connecting with it on a deeper level.”
The public is invited to attend the exhibition on May 1, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM with guided tours and artist talks throughout the exhibition period.
